How to help kids have fun during 4th of July fireworks

Fireworks

This morning I sat down to write a post about how to help kids cope with the sights and sounds of 4th of July when, whaddya know, I discovered someone else had already done it…and done it well.

Dana over at Embrace Your Chaos (www.embraceyourchaos.com) is a fellow occupational therapist/mom who has put together a great list of ideas for how to make the fireworks viewing experience fun for the sound-sensitive child.

Not only is her post practical for the casual reader, it’s also proven helpful for a real-life occupational therapist. Just this afternoon, a parent of one of my cute little clients asked me if I thought the child would be able to tolerate attending the fireworks show tomorrow. As part of my response, I included suggestions that Dana had provided in her post.

Check out her list of ideas for how to help your little one enjoy the fireworks by clicking here.

I hope everyone has a fun, safe, and happy 4th of July!
